* As featured in the Huntsville item: “It’s an honor, it just makes you grateful for your history and something that’s so deeply rooted within your family that’s passed down from generation to generation with all of the stories and history behind it. It really does make you thankful and grateful for family and somebody taking the time to actually hand down those traditions,” said LaTanya Lewis, Owner & Chef at Food-4-tha-Soul,™ LLC

Mission Statement

-FOOD-4-tha-SOUL,™ LLC A place where all can come to fellowship and experience my fondest childhood memories of love, family, church and community through Southern hospitality while enjoying Southern Cuisine.

-“With community in the forefront of my mind, on January 14, 2020, I was inspired and stepped out on faith to leave behind a 27-year career in the medical field to fulfill my life-long dream of serving up Southern Cuisine at the intersection of Spiritual Food and Soul Food...Heavily influenced by the church, African American heritage and my family, my cooking is reminiscent of the past and brings people together to build bonds over the table.”
-“I bring recipes handed down through my family back to life and intertwine them with my own culinary creations with an emphasis on providing healthy and nutritious options for families to enjoy together at the park instead of typical fast-food. Customer’s look forward to the weekly theme meals that are served “Wednesday Wings” and “Thursday Chicken n Waffles” as I regularly incorporate new dishes and desserts including Baby Back Mac n Cheese, Oxtails, Teacakes, Sweet Potato Pies and Pecan Cheesecake Pies. To me, soul food is made to be enjoyed fresh with the company of family and friends rather than reheated at home, reminiscent to my family’s meals shared after church on Sundays while growing up. It is an honor and humbling opportunity to be able to share love, joy and hope in Jesus Christ that is needed in our world today.”

“It is my fervent hope that all families, churches and communities remember the fond, basic principles from our childhood years (love, family, church and community) and we remain connected with a constant reminder every time you pass by and come by to eat at “FOOD-4-tha-SOUL."

A country girl raised in the Flat Prairie community near Burton,Texas and proud Huntsville resident of 22 years.Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ervin Lewis Sr. She's the youngest of her three siblings, Ervin Prescott (wife Terri) and Errol Marcus Sr. (wife Tasha).- Our childhood years and memories are very fond ones of family, love, church family and community. There were always so much love and support in our home. A place where everyone were always welcome, to come visit and enjoy supper or dinner with us.
-My mother a retired Burton ISD school teacher after 35 years and father a retired Transportation Flagman for the Brenham State Highway Department and served on Burton ISD School Board for 22 years. She was and still is an amazing cook and baker.-My father continues to this day to produce a flourishing garden where I remember anyone could always come by even if he or we were not at home to fill their bags with fruits and vegetables. Both are God-fearing, loving parents who nurtured us to have a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thanks to their devotion to raise us under the Biblical principle, their hospitality and giving Spirit the same good morals have extended to their children, grandchildren and great children.
-My love for singing began at the age of 5 and shortly thereafter at the age of 7 is when my curiosity for cooking and baking began. My mother would pull a chair next to her and the counter in the kitchen while she would prepare food. Often times, she would be baking tea cakes, homemade cakes and pies for us, church member(s) or someone/neighbor in the community. Thank you Mama for your patience and teaching me how to cook and bake with love and without using recipes. - During my high school years, I took FHA, entered culinary competitions and won several distinguished awards. In my early teenage years, I began learning the true meaning of Southern Cuisine-flavorful, cooking and baking with a sincere passion and love for others. It became my personal expression of love for my family, friends and community. With cooking good ‘ole soul food(a natural conversation starter)Opportunities began to present itself to minister to others the love of Christ: FOOD-4-tha-SOUL™
-My brothers also were taught and enjoy cooking Southern Cuisine that's "finger lickin’ delicious". They even do most of the cooking in their homes. -"Sissy’s I know you are reaping those seeds sown!! Lol”
-Back in the day, on Sundays after our family would go to church, we would always come home to eat Sunday dinner and enjoy the fellowship of one another, someone who would come by or another family.-Southern Cuisine has become the fabric of my soul: deeply rooted with my fondest childhood memories of family, church and community. All being the core of my heart and soul. Thus, it was placed in my Spirit to start up:FOOD-4-tha-SOUL™ *Spiritual Food and Soul Food are connected*
-I have been young and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed (children) begging bread. *Psalms 37:25...Simply put, we are in the overflow.
•What is the food? What does the bible say about food for the soul?
-In Matthew 4:4 (NIV)Jesus answered, it is written: "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”-Therefore the bible clearly tells us that God’s Word is Food for the Soul.
☆ If you need to grow spiritually, you need to know and receive the Word of God. Without God’s Word we are lost, we are weak vessels which can be shaken anytime by the devil.
